This piece was drawn in Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam when I travelled around South East Asia. I was fascinated by how even the most remote mountain villages, even those with just a few buildings, all had a shop selling phones and sim cards. We, as a globe, are completely saturated by telecommunication, bombarded by images and words.
I saw a man by the side of the road, reading his paper and surrounded by old TV’s and electronic equipment, guarding them like a dragon on his mountain of gold. I quickly took a photo as he looked up and returned to the hostel to create a surreal and psychedelic interpretation of this moment in time.
